   Donald Onken was born in 1960 and raised in Yucaipa, California.

From Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Lee at Dunlap Elementary school to graduation at Yucaipa High School in 1978, Before graduating Don began hitch hiking in front of the school, thinking he didn’t want to grow old and die in the same town without seeing the rest (or at least some) of the world. If he couldn’t get out of town hitching a small raphy bus would take him to Montclair Plaza for a mere dime, from there he was half way to the coast.

  The California coastline became an obsession for obvious reasons, Fresh air and beautiful people having fun. Soon Don was hitch hiking up and down the coast exploring new sights.
 
 

Born and raised in the inland empire, class of 1978 Yucaipa High School and very knowledgeable of the area.

I've been a carpenter since 1983. Since that time I have worked for a diverse group of property owners and contractors in wood and metal framing and  the finish of residential homes and commercial buildings. I keep this website to present my portfolio and important information on the building industry as well as sustainable development.  Since 1983 I have been involved in the construction industry, in particular, carpentry and engineering. Working for 100s of contractors, builders and homeowners in the Inland Empire.

Have participated in California Conservation Corps, U.S. Army (Honorable Discharge), San Bernardino National Forest Volunteer Ranger, Oasis Botanical Sanctuary (501c3) , World Life Research Institute(501c3), Colton CA. and  Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges (2002).

A.S. Degree in Computer Information Science at Crafton Hills College, grade point average 3.4.   Classes in Operating Systems, Programming, Robotics, Web Design, Cartography, Anthropology and Environmental Sciences.
